Heimat - Netflix

by Editor file under netflix with tags , ,

Heimat is a trilogy of episodic films by Edgar Reitz which views life in Germany between 1919 and 2000 through the eyes of a family from the Hunsrück area of the Rhineland. Personal and domestic life is set against glimpses of wider social and political events. The title Heimat is a German word meaning "homeland". Its use is partly an ironic reference to the film genre known as Heimatfilm which was popular in Germany in the 1950s. Heimatfilms were noted for their rural settings, sentimental tone and simplistic morality.

Sedwitz - Blue toe syndrome - Netflix

Blue toe syndrome is a situation that may reflect atherothrombotic microembolism, causing transient focal ischaemia, occasionally with minor apparent tissue loss, but without diffuse forefoot ischemia. The development of blue or violaceous toes can also occur with trauma, cold-induced injury, disorders producing generalized cyanosis, decreased arterial flow, impaired venous outflow, and abnormal circulating blood. The terms “blue toe syndrome”, “grey toe syndrome” and “purple toe syndrome” are sometimes used interchangeably. Studies may include echocardiography, thoracic and abdominal CT or MRI, peripheral arterial run off imaging studies, hypercoagulopathy labs, and interrogation of syndromes that lead to peripheral vascular pathology.

Club der roten Bänder - FC Bayern Munich - Netflix

Fußball-Club Bayern München e.V., commonly known as FC Bayern München (German pronunciation: [ʔɛf tseː ˈbaɪɐn ˈmʏnçn̩]), FCB, Bayern Munich, or FC Bayern, is a German sports club based in Munich, Bavaria (Bayern). It is best known for its professional football team, which plays in the Bundesliga, the top tier of the German football league system, and is the most successful club in German football history, having won a record 28 national titles and 18 national cups. FC Bayern was founded in 1900 by 11 football players, led by Franz John. Although Bayern won its first national championship in 1932, the club was not selected for the Bundesliga at its inception in 1963. The club had its period of greatest success in the middle of the 1970s when, under the captaincy of Franz Beckenbauer, it won the European Cup three times in a row (1974–1976). Overall, Bayern has reached ten European Cup/UEFA Champions League finals, most recently winning their fifth title in 2013 as part of a continental treble. Bayern has also won one UEFA Cup, one European Cup Winners' Cup, one UEFA Super Cup, one FIFA Club World Cup and two Intercontinental Cups, making it one of the most successful European clubs internationally and the only German club to have won both international titles. Since the formation of the Bundesliga, Bayern has been the dominant club in German football with 28 titles and has won 10 of the last 14 titles. They have traditional local rivalries with 1860 Munich and 1. FC Nürnberg, as well as with Borussia Dortmund since the mid-1990s. Since the beginning of the 2005–06 season, Bayern has played its home games at the Allianz Arena. Previously the team had played at Munich's Olympiastadion for 33 years. The team colours are red and white, and the team crest shows the white and blue flag of Bavaria. In terms of revenue, Bayern Munich is the biggest sports club in Germany and the fourth highest-earning football club in the world, generating €587.8 million in 2017. As of November 2016, Bayern has over 284,000 members. There are more than 4,000 officially registered fan clubs with over 314,000 members. The club has other departments for chess, handball, basketball, gymnastics, bowling, table tennis and senior football with more than 1,100 active members. FC Bayern is ranked third in the current UEFA club coefficient rankings.

Dating Daisy - Daisy Duck - Netflix

Daisy Duck is a cartoon character created in 1940 by Walt Disney Productions as the girlfriend of Donald Duck. Like Donald, Daisy is an anthropomorphic white duck, but has large eyelashes and ruffled tail feathers to suggest a skirt. She is often seen wearing a hair bow, blouse, and heeled shoes. Daisy usually shows a strong affinity towards Donald, although she is often characterized as being more sophisticated than him. Daisy was introduced in the short film Mr. Duck Steps Out (1940) and was incorporated into Donald's comic stories several months later. She appeared in 11 short films between 1940 and 1954, and far later in Mickey's Christmas Carol (1983) and Fantasia 2000 (1999). In these roles, Daisy was always a supporting character, with the exception of Donald's Dilemma (1947). Daisy has received considerably more screen time in television, making regular appearances in Quack Pack (1996), Mickey Mouse Works (1999-2000), Disney's House of Mouse (2001–2003), and Mickey Mouse Clubhouse (2006–2016). Daisy has also appeared in several direct-to-video films such as Mickey's Once Upon a Christmas (1999) and The Three Musketeers (2004). Daisy is the aunt of April, May, and June, three young girl ducks who act as Huey, Dewey, and Louie's female counterparts. Daisy is a close friend of Clarabelle Cow and Clara Cluck in the comics and Minnie Mouse's best friend.

Dating Daisy - Daisy in television - Netflix

Curiously, Daisy never appeared on DuckTales, although Donald's own appearances in that series were limited. In the 1996 television series Quack Pack, Daisy was presented as a much more liberated (and patient) woman than in her previous appearances, where she was employed as a television station reporter, with Donald as her cameraman. In Quack Pack, Daisy had a pet Iguana named Knuckles. Some consider Quack Pack to be a spin-off of DuckTales, however, unlike DuckTales, the world is not populated purely by animal beings, but also humans. Daisy also has appeared in the later television series Mickey Mouse Works, Disney's House of Mouse and Mickey Mouse Clubhouse as a regular character (all of which were on the Disney Channel). She is also a main character in the Minnie's Bow-Toons shorts and Mickey and the Roadster Racers.

CopStories - Beverly Hills Cop - Netflix

Beverly Hills Cop is a 1984 American action comedy film directed by Martin Brest, written by Daniel Petrie Jr. and starring Eddie Murphy as Axel Foley, a street-smart Detroit cop who visits Beverly Hills, California to solve the murder of his best friend. Judge Reinhold, John Ashton, Ronny Cox, Lisa Eilbacher, Steven Berkoff and Jonathan Banks appear in supporting roles. This first film in the Beverly Hills Cop series shot Murphy to international stardom, won the People's Choice Award for “Favorite Motion Picture” and was nominated for both the Golden Globe Award for Best Motion Picture – Musical or Comedy and Academy Award for Best Original Screenplay in 1985. It earned $234 million at the North American domestic box office, making it the highest-grossing film released in 1984 in the U.S.

CopStories - Reception - Netflix

Beverly Hills Cop received critical acclaim upon its release, and is considered by many as one of the best films of 1984. Janet Maslin of The New York Times wrote “Beverly Hills Cop finds Eddie Murphy doing what he does best: playing the shrewdest, hippest, fastest-talking underdog in a rich man's world. Eddie Murphy knows exactly what he's doing, and he wins at every turn”. Richard Schickel of Time magazine wrote that “Eddie Murphy exuded the kind of cheeky, cocky charm that has been missing from the screen since Cagney was a pup, snarling his way out of the ghetto”. Axel Foley became Murphy's signature role and was ranked No. 78 on Empire magazine's list of The 100 Greatest Movie Characters of All Time. Also, Entertainment Weekly magazine ranked Beverly Hills Cop as the third best comedy film of the last 25 years. According to Christopher Hitchens, the British novelist and poet Kingsley Amis considered the film “a flawless masterpiece.” Review aggregation website Rotten Tomatoes retrospectively collected reviews from 43 critics to give the film a score of 84%, with an average score of 7.1 out of 10. In 2003, the film was picked as one of the 1000 Best Movies Ever Made by The New York Times.

Triple Ex - Ex-gay movement - Netflix

The ex-gay movement consists of individuals and organizations that encourage people to refrain from entering or pursuing same-sex relationships, eliminate homosexual desires and to develop heterosexual desires, or to enter into a heterosexual relationship. It relies on the involvement of individuals who formerly identified themselves as gay, lesbian, or bisexual but no longer do; these individuals may either claim that they have eliminated their attraction to the same sex altogether or simply that they abstain from acting on such attraction. There have been various scandals related to this movement, including some self-claimed ex-gays having been found in same-sex relationships despite having denied this, as well as controversies over gay minors being forced to go to ex-gay camps against their will, and overt admissions by organizations related to the movement that conversion therapy does not work. A large body of research and global scientific consensus indicates that being gay, lesbian, or bisexual is compatible with normal mental health and social adjustment. Because of this, major mental health professional organizations discourage and caution individuals against attempting to change their sexual orientation to heterosexual, and warn that attempting to do so can be harmful.

Triple Ex - Ex-gay organizationsEdit - Netflix

The first contemporary ex-gay ministry, Love in Action, was formed in 1973. Three years later, with other ex-gay organizations, it formed Exodus International, the largest ex-gay organization and the largest organization under the Exodus Global Alliance. In June 2013, the Exodus board decided to cease operations, with president Alan Chambers apologizing for the pain and hurt the group had caused and saying that he no longer believed sexual orientation could be changed. Chambers apologized for what he identified as regrettable techniques, and the narrow message of a cure and marriage rather than a relationship with Christ for all. Shortly after, Chambers and his wife started Speak.Love., an organisation for promoting conversations on sexual orientation for all. In September 2014, Speak.Love. was merged into Chambers' personal website. Exodus Global Alliance, however, no longer affiliated with Exodus International, has continued operations. Other ex-gay organizations cater to a specific religious groups, such as Courage International for Catholics, North Star for the LDS Church, JONAH for Jews, Joel 2:25 International for Catholic and Protestant Christians and OneByOne for Presbyterians. Some groups follow a specific technique, such as Homosexuals Anonymous, modeled after the Alcoholics Anonymous twelve-step program. Other ex-gay organizations include Parents and Friends of Ex-Gays and Gays.

Jack Holborn - Holborn Viaduct power station - Netflix

Holborn Viaduct power station, named the Edison Electric Light Station, was the world's first coal-fired power station, generating electricity for public use. It was built at number 57, Holborn Viaduct in London, by Thomas Edison's Edison Electric Light Company. The plant began running on 12 January 1882, three years after the invention of the carbon-filament incandescent light bulb. It burnt coal to drive a steam turbine which drove a 27-tonne (27-long-ton; 30-short-ton), 125 horsepower (93 kW) generator which produced direct current (DC) at 110 volts. It initially lit 968 16-candle incandescent lamps to provide street lighting from Holborn Circus to St. Martin's Le Grand, which was later expanded to 3,000 lamps. The power station also provided electricity for private residences, which may have included Ely Place. Edison opened a second coal-fired power station in September 1882 in the United States, at Pearl Street Station in New York City.

Jack Holborn - Background - Netflix

In 1878, the City of London Corporation had installed 16 electric arc lamps over the viaduct, but the experiment was discontinued within six months, and the bridge returned to gas lighting. The Victoria Embankment was lit with electric lamps at around the same time, using the Yablochkov candles demonstrated at the Exposition Universelle in Paris in 1878. The Holborn Viaduct project was preceded by two months by an electricity supply from a water wheel in Godalming, Surrey – the world's first public electricity supply. This hydroelectric project was on a much smaller scale, however, with a 10 horsepower (7.5 kW) generator running 4 arc lamps and 27 incandescent lamps.

Lindenstraße - Entführung aus der Lindenstraße - Netflix

Entführung aus der Lindenstraße (meaning 'Kidnap from Lime Street') is a German television film directed by George Moorse. It was produced in 1995 to celebrate the tenth anniversary of the German television series Lindenstraße, and stars many cast members of that show.

Lindenstraße - Plot - Netflix

The ARD television series Lindenstraße is about to be cancelled after its ten-year run. Obsessive Lindenstraße fan and head computer programmer of the GEZ, Detlef Hase (portrayed by Herbert Feuerstein) is distraught. He enters the production studio of the show posing as a tourist, sneaks backstage, and kidnaps the actress Marie-Luise Marjan (playing herself) at gunpoint. He calls her 'Helga' or 'Frau Beimer', her Lindenstraße stage-name, and is infatuated with her. He takes her to an unoccupied castle which belongs to a distant relative of his, and forces her to record a video stating that unless the show Lindenstraße is renewed, the record of all GEZ TV-licenses will be deleted. To prove his ability to carry out his threat, he deletes all data pertaining to the town Bad Schwartau. This however alerts the police to his identity, and after searching his apartment they find a map on which the location of the castle is marked. Meanwhile, Marie-Luise begins to admire Hase, and is persuaded to support his attempt to save Lindenstraße. They manage to evade capture by the police and drive to the GEZ headquarters, where they lock themselves in the computer room. As the police break in and arrest him, Hase activates a computer virus that will automatically delete the GEZ data, and that can only be deactivated by him. As the virus continues to delete data, WDR director Fritz Pleitgen announces publicly that Lindenstraße will be re-commissioned, citing the public outcry over the proposed cancellation as the reason. In the final scene, set several weeks later, Marie-Luise visits Hase in prison, and offers him an acting role on the show Lindenstraße after the completion of his custodial sentence.

Tannbach – Schicksal eines Dorfes - Mödlareuth - Netflix

Mödlareuth (German pronunciation: [ˈmøːdlaˌʁɔʏ̯t]) is a German village situated partly in Bavaria and partly in Thuringia. Between 1949 and 1990, the northern part was in East Germany and the southern part in West Germany. The Thuringian part of the village belongs to Gefell while the Bavarian part belongs to Töpen. It was called “Little Berlin” by the Americans because a wall divided it until 1989, like the Berlin Wall divided Berlin. “Little Berlin” became a symbol of separation between the West and East by the wall, but also a symbol of reunification. Today the Museum Mödlareuth shows the history of the village and gives information about the political system at that time.

Tannbach – Schicksal eines Dorfes - Mödlareuth today - Netflix

The Thuringian part of the village of Mödlareuth belongs to the town of Gefell, and the Bavarian part to the community of Töpen. Since 1994, Mödlareuth has had an open-air museum about the border between East and West Germany. It includes a portion of the original wall as well as a rebuilt barrier typical of those on the border at the time. Although there is free passage between the two parts of the village today, there are still many differences. They have different postal codes and telephone area codes; the residents vote separately and send their children to different schools.

Verrückt nach Clara - Verrückt (water slide) - Netflix

Verrückt (German for crazy or insane) was a water slide at the Schlitterbahn Kansas City water park. At 168 feet 7 inches (51.38 m), the slide surpassed Kilimanjaro at Aldeia das Águas Park Resort to become the world's tallest water slide when it opened in 2014. Following a fatal accident involving a 10-year-old boy in 2016, the ride was closed permanently, and criminal charges led to the arrests of several individuals including the park's owner and a co-designer of the ride.

Verrückt nach Clara - History - Netflix

In November 2012, Schlitterbahn Kansas City announced plans for the world's tallest and fastest water slide, with no name or height specifications, set to open in Summer of 2013. The height was kept secret in order to ensure that it would set a world record. The still incomplete slide was officially named Verrückt, the German word for crazy or insane, in November 2013, with the ride expected to be open at the start of the park's 2014 season (which was May 23). The ride was not ready when the park opened for the summer, and the opening day was delayed until June 5, as it was “not working properly”. After much of the lower portion of the ride was rebuilt, the opening date was announced to be June 29, to coincide with a television special about the ride. On June 26, the park cancelled two days of media previews and the opening. The ride opened on July 10, 2014. Verrückt was voted the world's “Best New Waterpark Ride” at the 2014 Golden Ticket Awards.

CopStories - Equal opportunity parody - Netflix

When Ward and Bouchard arrive at the heliport, Ward's division of French-English language jurisdictions (“...with the possible exception of some areas in New Brunswick”) and the formal language he uses in doing so are allusions to the Canadian Constitution and its official language provisions. The Canadian stand-up comic Rick Mercer has a minor supporting role in the film as Tom Berry, a loudmouthed, bigoted and racist television sportscaster, who is a parody of real-life Canadian hockey commentator Don Cherry. Similarly, the character of Harry Buttman is a parody of NHL commissioner Gary Bettman, and hockey team owners Michel Grossbut and Pickleton are parodies of Marcel Aubut and Peter Pocklington respectively. The top draft pick of 1995 refers to Eric Lindros, who in fact was the NHL's top draft pick in 1991, not 1995. Lindros was drafted by the Quebec Nordiques, but refused to play for the team and was traded to the Philadelphia Flyers. In a situation similar to Lindros, the top pick in 1995 was Bryan Berard, an American defenceman who refused to play for the Ottawa Senators and was dealt to the New York Islanders in a three-team trade in January 1996. Coincidentally, Lindros won the Hart Trophy in 1995. When Ward explains that the draft pick fell and suffered a concussion, Bouchard says “What, again?” This is a reference to the series of concussions that plagued Lindros's career.

Emil Jannings (born Theodor Friedrich Emil Janenz, 23 July 1884 – 2 January 1950) was a German actor, popular in 1920s film in Hollywood. He was the first Oscar recipient, honored with the Academy Award for Best Actor at the 1929 ceremony. To date, he is still the only German to have won the Best Actor Oscar. Jannings is best known for his collaborations with F. W. Murnau and Josef von Sternberg, including 1930's The Blue Angel, with Marlene Dietrich. Der blaue Engel was meant as a vehicle for Jannings to score a place for himself in the new medium of sound film, but Dietrich stole the show. Jannings later starred in a number of Nazi propaganda films, which made him unemployable as an actor after the fall of the Third Reich.

Dresden - Bombing of Dresden in World War II - Netflix

The bombing of Dresden was a British/American aerial bombing attack on the city of Dresden, the capital of the German state of Saxony, during World War II in the European Theatre. In four raids between 13 and 15 February 1945, 722 heavy bombers of the British Royal Air Force (RAF) and 527 of the United States Army Air Forces (USAAF) dropped more than 3,900 tons of high-explosive bombs and incendiary devices on the city. The bombing and the resulting firestorm destroyed over 1,600 acres (6.5 km2) of the city centre. An estimated 22,700 to 25,000 people were killed, although larger casualty figures have been claimed. Three more USAAF air raids followed, two occurring on 2 March aimed at the city's railway marshalling yard and one smaller raid on 17 April aimed at industrial areas. Immediate German propaganda claims following the attacks and post-war discussions on whether the attacks were justified have led to the bombing becoming one of the moral causes célèbres of the war. A 1953 United States Air Force report defended the operation as the justified bombing of a strategic target, which they noted was a major rail transport and communication centre, housing 110 factories and 50,000 workers in support of the German war effort. Several researchers claim not all of the communications infrastructure, such as the bridges, were targeted, nor were the extensive industrial areas outside the city centre. Critics of the bombing have claimed that Dresden was a cultural landmark of little or no strategic significance, and that the attacks were indiscriminate area bombing and not proportionate to the military gains. Some in the German far-right refer to the bombing as a mass murder calling it “Dresden's Holocaust of bombs”. According to other critics, given the high number of civilian casualties and the relatively few strategic targets, Dresden's destruction was unjustifiable and should be called a war crime. They claim the city could have been spared, like Rome, Paris, and Kyoto, though the British and the American militaries defended the bombing as necessary. Large variations in the claimed death toll have fuelled the controversy. In March 1945, the German government ordered its press to publish a falsified casualty figure of 200,000 for the Dresden raids, and death toll estimates as high as 500,000 have been given. The city authorities at the time estimated up to 25,000 victims, a figure that subsequent investigations supported, including a 2010 study commissioned by the city council.

Dresden - Political response in Germany - Netflix

Far-right politicians in Germany have sparked a great deal of controversy by promoting the term “Bombenholocaust” (“holocaust by bomb”) to describe the raids. Der Spiegel writes that, for decades, the Communist government of East Germany promoted the bombing as an example of “Anglo-American terror,” and now the same rhetoric is being used by the far right. An example can be found in the extremist nationalist party Nationaldemokratische Partei Deutschlands (NPD). A party's representative, Jürgen Gansel, described the Dresden raids as “mass murder,” and “Dresden's holocaust of bombs”. This provoked an outrage in the German parliament and triggered responses from the media. Prosecutors said that it was illegal to call the bombing a holocaust. In 2010, several demonstrations by organizations opposing the far-right blocked a demonstration of far-right organizations.

Phrases like “Bomber-Harris, do it again!”, “Bomber-Harris Superstar – Thanks from the red Antifa”, and “Deutsche Täter sind keine Opfer!” (“German perpetrators are no victims!”) are popular slogans among the so-called “Anti-Germans”—a small radical left-wing political movement in Germany and Austria. In 1995, the fiftieth anniversary of the bombing, Anti-Germans praised the bombing on the grounds that so many of the city's civilians had supported Nazism. Similar rallies take place every year.

Block B – Unter Arrest - Nazi Party - Netflix

The National Socialist German Workers' Party (German: Nationalsozialistische Deutsche Arbeiterpartei , abbreviated NSDAP), commonly referred to in English as the Nazi Party (English: ), was a far-right political party in Germany that was active between 1920 and 1945 and supported the ideology of Nazism. Its precursor, the German Workers' Party (Deutsche Arbeiterpartei; DAP), existed from 1919 to 1920. The Nazi Party emerged from the German nationalist, racist and populist Freikorps paramilitary culture, which fought against the communist uprisings in post-World War I Germany. The party was created as a means to draw workers away from communism and into völkisch nationalism. Initially, Nazi political strategy focused on anti-big business, anti-bourgeois and anti-capitalist rhetoric, although such aspects were later downplayed in order to gain the support of industrial entities and in the 1930s the party's focus shifted to anti-Semitic and anti-Marxist themes. Pseudo-scientific racism theories were central to Nazism. The Nazis propagated the idea of a “people's community” (Volksgemeinschaft). Their aim was to unite “racially desirable” Germans as national comrades, while excluding those deemed either to be political dissidents, physically or intellectually inferior, or of a foreign race (Fremdvölkische). The Nazis sought to improve the stock of the Germanic people through racial purity and eugenics, broad social welfare programs and a collective subordination of individual rights, which could be sacrificed for the good of the state and the “Aryan master race”. To maintain the supposed purity and strength of the Aryan race, the Nazis sought to exterminate Jews, Romani and Poles along with the vast majority of other Slavs and the physically and mentally handicapped. They imposed exclusionary segregation on homosexuals, Africans, Jehovah's Witnesses and political opponents. The persecution reached its climax when the party-controlled German state organized the systematic genocidal killing of an estimated 5.5 to 6 million Jews and millions of other targeted victims, in what has become known as the Holocaust. The party's leader since 1921, Adolf Hitler, was appointed Chancellor of Germany by President Paul von Hindenburg on 30 January 1933. Hitler rapidly established a totalitarian regime known as the Third Reich. Following the defeat of the Third Reich at the conclusion of World War II in Europe, the party was “declared to be illegal” by the Allied powers, who carried out denazification in the years after the war.

Germany's Next Topmodel is a German reality television series, based on a concept that was introduced by Tyra Banks with America's Next Top Model. The competition is hosted by Heidi Klum. She also serves as the lead judge and executive producer of the show.

Germany's Next Topmodel - CriticismEdit - Netflix

Since Cycle 5, the show's ratings decreased. In an attempt to increase the ratings, the format is increasingly focusing on conflicts between contestants. In 2009, German model Julia Stegner said that Germany's Next Topmodel had “little to do with the reality of modelling.” In 2011, cycle 5 winner Alisar Ailabouni withdrew from her contract with ONEeins Management (which is managed by Heidi Klum's father Günther), which she received as part of her prize page for winning the competition. This was first time a winner of the show sued her way out of a prize contract. Ailabouni was not invited to cycle 6's live finale, while several ProSieben-related magazines referred to cycle 4 winner Sara Nuru as “last year's winner”, given she was working as a backstage host. Since then, a number of other contestants have withdrawn from their contracts with ONEeins, including Viktoria Lantratova and Miriam Höller (both cycle 5), Jana Beller (cycle 6 winner), Luise Will (cycle 8) and Aminata Sanogo (cycle 9). In 2012, former judge Rolf Scheider criticized the program, saying, “The show has never produced a new Nadja Auermann or Claudia Schiffer”, and that girls who “lack modelling talent” are selected purely for ratings. Regardless of this, he appeared on the fifth cycle of Austria's Next Topmodel as a judge. In 2013, Klum was criticized by German comedian Cordula Stratmann, who branded Klum “the face and soul of a cold-hearted, disgusting production” and “the trainer in malice and condescension.” In May 2013, during the live finale of cycle 8, Klum was attacked by two topless Femen activists, Zana Ramadani and Hellen Langhorst, who flashed her. In April 2014, Miriam Höller, from cycle 5 said in an interview that contestants are poorly treated on the show; for example, they are not given enough food or their mobile phones are taken away. She also said that Klum was “extremely cold”, and criticized the cooperation with Günther Klum. She also mentioned that a client who had worked with her before the show wanted to book her but ONEeins said Höller was busy, even though she wasn't busy at that time. The client was offered to book Sara Nuru instead of Höller. In April 2014, German model Eva Padberg said that the show was just entertainment and not the reality of model business. She also expressed her hopes for participating girls to know this. In May 2015, psychiatrist Manfred Lütz said according to a study “GNTM” promoted anorexia. Also, in that time, “Germany's Next Topmodel” was checked by the German Commission for the Protection of Minors in the Media (Kommission für Jugendmedienschutz). Since the first cycle, the show is subject of repeated checks by the Commission. In September 2015, former judge Wolfgang Joop criticized the show as well, stating he didn't want to be part of that anymore since “The viewers expect things that the fashion expert does not. Namely, contestants collapsing, getting homesick, crying and falling on their heels. These are stories that do not interest us in the fashion world.” In 2017 in Episode 9 of Cycle 12 the contestants had a photo shoot on a bed with male models wearing lingerie. The photo shoot took place in the streets of Los Angeles and caused a car accident and Heidi Klum made fun of that accident. The audience and several media criticized Heidi Klum and the show for that. In May 2017 the finale of Cycle 12 aired and Heidi Klum was heavily criticized by the media and audience for her performance. For example, Süddeutsche Zeitung said, that the only winner of the show after 12 cycles is just Heidi Klum and not the participants. They critzied that it does not matter who is winning the show, because it is only about promotion, the showmanship of Heidi Klum herself and about showing a pestilent body image. Among other things, Heidi Klum had sung by means of Playback and was criticized for the quality of this performance by Spiegel Online. In addition to that, the cycle 12 finale had very low ratings. Also in May 2017 the German radio and television broadcaster Philipp Walulis criticized the show and its practices within his YouTube-show “Walulis” as well. His main criticism is that the contestants get gagging contracts and that the show is only concerned about advertising campaigns instead of the contestants. Within this video, former contestants have their say. Beth Ditto said in June 2017: “I see it very critically that in programs like this girls are stirred up against each other. There are so many other ways to do what you want without such a show that destroys so many dreams.” In May 2018 Cycle 12 contestant Victoria Pavlas officially said that Pro7 and the Team behind Germany's Next Topmodel portrayed her in a wrong way on television. She said: “I do not want to be portrayed like this by Pro7 only for Fame.” In addition to that, like many contestants in the history of the show, she also got out of her contract, and she did not appear on the live finale.

Speer und Er - Albert Speer - Netflix

Berthold Konrad Hermann Albert Speer (; German: [ˈʃpeːɐ̯] ( listen); March 19, 1905 – September 1, 1981) was a German architect who was, for most of World War II, Reich Minister of Armaments and War Production for Nazi Germany. Speer was Adolf Hitler's chief architect before assuming ministerial office. As “the Nazi who said sorry”, he accepted moral responsibility at the Nuremberg trials and in his memoirs for complicity in crimes of the Nazi regime, while insisting he had been ignorant of the Holocaust. Speer joined the Nazi Party in 1931, launching himself on a political and governmental career which lasted fourteen years. His architectural skills made him increasingly prominent within the Party and he became a member of Hitler's inner circle. Hitler instructed him to design and construct structures including the Reich Chancellery and the Zeppelinfeld stadium in Nuremberg where Party rallies were held. Speer also made plans to reconstruct Berlin on a grand scale, with huge buildings, wide boulevards, and a reorganized transportation system. In February 1942, Hitler appointed him as Reich Minister of Armaments and War Production. After the war, he was tried at Nuremberg and sentenced to 20 years in prison for his role in the Nazi regime, principally for the use of forced labor. Despite repeated attempts to gain early release, he served his full sentence, most of it at Spandau Prison in West Berlin. Following his release in 1966, Speer published two bestselling autobiographical works, Inside the Third Reich and Spandau: The Secret Diaries, detailing his close personal relationship with Hitler, and providing readers and historians with a unique perspective on the workings of the Nazi regime. He wrote a third book, Infiltration, about the SS. Speer died of a stroke in 1981 while on a visit to London.

Speer und Er - Architectural legacy - Netflix

Little remains of Speer's personal architectural works, other than the plans and photographs. No buildings designed by Speer during the Nazi era are extant in Berlin, other than the Schwerbelastungskörper (heavy load bearing body), built around 1941. The 46-foot (14 m) high concrete cylinder was used to measure ground subsidence as part of feasibility studies for a massive triumphal arch and other large structures proposed as part of Welthauptstadt Germania, Hitler's planned postwar renewal project for the city. The cylinder is now a protected landmark and is open to the public. Along the Strasse des 17. Juni, a double row of lampposts designed by Speer still stands. The tribune of the Zeppelinfeld stadium in Nuremberg, though partly demolished, can also be seen. More of Speer's own personal work can be found in London, where he redesigned the interior of the German Embassy to the United Kingdom, then located at 7–9 Carlton House Terrace. Since 1967, it has served as the offices of the Royal Society. His work there, stripped of its Nazi fixtures and partially covered by carpets, survives in part. Another legacy was the Arbeitsstab Wiederaufbau zerstörter Städte (Working group on Reconstruction of destroyed cities), authorised by Speer in 1943 to rebuild bombed German cities to make them more livable in the age of the automobile. Headed by Wolters, the working group took a possible military defeat into their calculations. The Arbeitsstab's recommendations served as the basis of the postwar redevelopment plans in many cities, and Arbeitsstab members became prominent in the rebuilding.
